Women of Rockabilly

There have been so many great rockabilly women through the decades, they have come from all over the world and have all united with one common style. Rockabilly by definition was created around a certain style of music, so its no shock that many great rockabilly women are musicians.

Wanda Jackson, A.K.A. The Queen of Rockabilly. Nope I'm not joking she is considered to be the "Queen of Rockabilly"! Wanda Jackson became extremely popular in 1956 and has remained an iconic figure to this day, her last studio album was released in 1987 until 2003 when she began her come back. She released another album in 2006, but her rockabilly come back didn't reach its height until 2011when she teamed with musician/producer Jack White III. She released The Party Ain't Over and a live album. She is now 74 and still a popular active musician and true rockabilly royalty!

Patricia Day is the lead singer and bass player for The Horrorpops. Patricia Day is a WILD rockabilly woman, she has a vibrant and bold rockabilly look. Patricia Day has been preforming in The Horrorpops since 1996, along with her husband Kim Nekroman and there drummer Niedermeier. I was lucky enough to get a chance to see the Horrorpops live and I have to say it was one of the best concerts I've ever been to! The Horrorpops were amazing and the energy was insane, so if you get a chance to see them GO!

Meg White, drummer for The White Stripes(1997-2011). She may not be the first person to pop into your mind when you think "Rockabilly women." but dont be fooled by her coy, and simple style. Meg White's rockabilly look was defiantly much more noticeable when she was younger. As you can see in the pictures Meg wore some rockabilly styled outfits on stage.

Kitty is the youngest and she plays banjo, ukelele, guitar, trombone, harmonica, drums and she also sings. Daisy plays piano, drums, xylophone, accordion, and she sings as well. Lewis is their brother, and they have been preforming together since 2000.
